<image:title>Resident Testimonies - Cory P. - I spent years numb. Meth took more from me than I could ever explain. It robbed me of peace, purpose, and my connection to others. I could not feel the people around me. I could not love the way I wanted to love. And the worst part was that I could no longer sense God’s presence. I was completely cut off. At the time, I did not understand that addiction had rewired my brain and shut down my heart. I just knew I felt empty. Alone. Hollow. Delusional. Broken. And that is exactly where Anchor of Hope found me. I met Josh and Jennifer during treatment, and they struck me as different. Real. Caring. Anchor was not just a sober living house. It was a place where God started gently putting pieces of me back together. Josh and Jennifer did not just hold me accountable to staying sober. They challenged me to become a man of integrity and to lean into a relationship with God that would anchor me for the long haul. They never gave up on me. They taught me that communication matters. That serving others matters. That being obedient in my walk with God is not optional if I want to grow. Because of that kind of love and structure, I began to change in ways I never thought possible. Over time, what started as gratitude turned into a deep desire to give back. On February 1, 2025, I stepped into an Executive Director role at Anchor of Hope. Not long after that, I felt God pulling me in a new direction, and I stepped into full-time service as the men’s director. This was not a promotion or a plan. It was simply the next right thing in front of me. And today, I get to walk with men who are where I once was and remind them they are not too far gone. My relationship with Jesus today is the most important thing in my life. He loved me when I could not love anyone. He stayed when I wandered. He pursued me when I had nothing to give in return. And now I get to spend my life responding to that love. I live in awe of the fact that the same God I ignored and pushed away never stopped wanting me. My family relationships are still being healed. They are not fully restored yet. But I am present now. I am not running or numbing or hiding. I am praying and believing that God is not finished writing that part of the story. Anchor of Hope is more than a program. It is a family. These are the people who stood beside me in the dark and helped walk me into the light. And now I get to do the same for others. If you are reading this and wondering if there is any hope left for you or someone you love, let me tell you what I now know. There is. God is not done with you. He has not let go. He never left. This place helped save my life. And now, by the grace of God, I get to be part of helping others find theirs. Cory Petty - Executive Director - AOH2 - Manager</image:title>

<image:title>Resident Testimonies - Jeremiah J. - When I got to Anchor of Hope straight out of rehab I had no money, no job, and no prospects on what to do next or even what to expect. I had a bag with a little bit of clothes (mostly from CCR) and that was about all. I'd been in Charlotte 45 days and didn't know anybody except the people I'd been in rehab with. Terrified is an understatement. My only option was to figure out how to do something I'd never even considered doing before, living without drugs and starting a completely new life. It was only by God's grace that I landed at AOH when I got out of rehab. They gave me a chance when honestly I wouldn't have given myself one. Here I've actually learned how to not only be an adult but to help others learn the same things that I've had to and continue to learn to do. During my time at AoH I've found what life is actually about, how to be a friend, a father and as house manager how to be a leader. I can even hold down a job, have fun and have gratitude for the simple things in life that I'd never noticed before. When somebody says to "stop and smell the roses " do it. If anybody were to ask how I got her from where I was. All I can say is trust in God, take suggestions, and live in the moment. The future will come soon enough if you put in the work. I've learned everything about living life and doing the next right thing at Anchor of Hope. Jeremiah Jaynes - AOH 1 - Manager Sober Since January 11th, 2023</image:title>

<image:caption>After spending years battling with alcohol, I finally found myself in an addiction treatment center where I would start my journey to recovery. Once finishing and not sure what to do next, I was suggested trying Anchor of Hope. They offered me a roof over my head. I was very grateful, but I still hadn't fully surrendered to addiction. I would still go back out a few more times in my journey, but Anchor of Hope never gave up on me and always gave me a chance. Finally understanding the actions I must take to stay sober has helped a lot. What has truly helped more than anything I believe is the brotherhood I have found in Anchor of Hope. Surrounding myself with people who want to see me grow is a blessing. Being able to watch people come in their first night and stay days, months to years is what was helped. To watch others grow and see that is possible in recovery is amazing. The way they start to think and carry themselves throughout there journey is what continues to push me. The brothers I have met and grown with have become lifelong friends. I was told in the beginning to surround myself with the winners. I have been able to do that through Anchor of Hope. I can't even imagine what life would be like without them taking chances on me and never giving up on me. I will always be grateful for what Anchor of Hope has done for me. I hope to continue to always have Anchor of Hope in my life and watch it grow with the people that are in it as well. Recovery Is Possible. <image:title>Resident Testimonies - James - “‘How did this hole get in the wall?’ My last roommate asked me that in a raging fury, knowing that I hadn’t been going to work and was behind on rent as it was. I neglected to mention that earlier that day, already in a drunken stupor, I stumbled and basically did a head first baseball slide down the stairs and straight into the wall. After weeks of me hardly leaving my room, except to go buy the necessary cocktail of substances I needed in order just to curb my withdrawals, that was the final straw. I was kicked out and had nowhere to go. Out of the kindness of his heart my brother made the 4 hour trek to Charlotte and got a hotel room for the two of us. Given my 3 recent hospitalizations he recognized that I was probably going to die if left alone with nowhere to sleep but my car. Realistically, he was right. However, I now faced a huge problem… I had to find a place to live. I called my sponsor that day and told him that I had been lying to him and naturally he’d already known. He was the farthest thing from gentle when we spoke and that was exactly what I needed, a wake up call. I needed to get sober and this time truly put in the work to stay that way. My stress level was through the roof, I desperately wanted to stay in Charlotte, but my brother was only able to stay for 3 days. It was either find a place in that span, or move back home to Charleston with my parents, leaving my job and all of my friends here behind indefinitely. I had already been to another sober living here in Charlotte twice before so I figured I’d just call and go back for a third tour of duty. However, God had other plans. The place was full and I was 13th on the waiting list, looking at probably 2-3 months before I’d have a chance to get in. I accepted my fate of having to move back and was pacing outside my job trying to think of how to tell them I had to leave indefinitely on short notice. Then I got a text. The manager of the other sober living told me his friend Josh had just opened a new sober house, it was called Anchor of Hope and they had a bed available. Within a few hours my brother and I were in the car on our way to look at it. As soon as I stepped in the driveway I knew there was something greater at work. I had thought Josh might look familiar, but not only did I recognize him from the meeting where he told his story for the first time, I literally remembered specifics of it because of how much it had reached me even though our paths were so different. My initial plan was to stay for a little while and then transfer to my former facility when I could. That notion lasted about a week. I’ve stayed in a number of sober living houses and not a single one remotely compares to Anchor. Things are just different here. The bonding, the brotherhood, the laughing, the support, the accountability all make this a unique place where not only did I want to get sober, but I wanted to do it here. A huge amount of that is due to Josh, there’s not a more genuinely caring person than him and that resonates throughout the house and everyone here. Anchor of Hope is a special place. A different place. I may not be alive if God had not put it and Josh in my path and that is something I will forever be grateful for.”</image:title>

<image:title>Resident Testimonies - Daniel Hearne - “I am a very grateful resident of Anchor of Hope Sober Living. I met Josh Bone while in treatment at Carolina Center for Recovery. Josh is a very genuine, kind, loving, caring and understanding man. My first thoughts of sober living were nothing like what it has turned out to be. I knew there was going to be accountability as far as staying clean and sober, but I didn’t expect him to show such a deep level of caring. He has held me accountable to growing into a man and strengthening my relationship with God. I am held accountable to demonstrate integrity, increasing my willingness to serve others and being obedient in my walk of faith. All of these things for me are an absolute must in my recovery. Josh has been willing to work with me with anything as long as I communicate with him. Teaching me that communication is important in any form of any relationship. The life that I am building today was only possible for me by going into sober living after treatment. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for Anchor of Hope Sober Living. This place has made me grow so much in my recovery and in my spiritual walk and for that I am forever grateful.”</image:title>

<image:caption>“I just wanted to take a moment to express my extreme gratitude for Anchor of Hope Sober Living. When the opportunity presented itself for me to come in, I was absolutely thrilled. Josh sent a couple of his guys to come all the way to Greensboro from Matthews just to pick me up at 10:00pm. That event was the beginning of my journey. Everyone made me feel so welcome and part of the family. Since I have been with Anchor, I have been receiving blessing after blessing. I consider everyone that is at Anchor my family, and I love them all. Since I have been here for the past few months, my recovery is as strong as it's ever been. I attend 4-7 meetings weekly, work a full time job, go to church weekly, meet with my sponsor, am a part of a home group and got baptized!!! Anchor has provided me with everything I need to stay sober and continue to better myself. ” Sober since August 3, 2020</image:caption>
